Reverie by Eliza Andrews

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Suspense

Wow! This book was well worth waiting for. This was not as much a character driven plot as a situatonal and emotional driven plot, the characters were just the vehicles. There are some very interesting twists and Andrews really knows what she is talking about when she sets her plots in the deep south because it really is different down here.

My Life As A Bench by Jaq Hazell

GENRE: YA, Crime, Literary

The title of this book intrigued me. It was an original concept but there was a lot of repitition. The protagonist being a soul trapped in a memorial bench was new and the voice was original just a bit on the whiney side. Overall the book dragged a bit too much for my taste but the uniqueness of it should not be overlooked.

Beneath the Surface (Pink Bean Series #2) by Harper Bliss

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

This is the second book in the Pink Bean Series but it takes you back in time to give you the background of Kristen and Sheryl, the owner of the Pink Bean. The progression through this plot was seemless even though it spaned a large amount of time. Bliss really does anamazing job conveying the deepness of Kristen and Sheryl's relationship. I loved it!

Hope Sparks(After the EMP book 7) by Harley Tate

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

Finally the two groups merge just in time to fight a small band of drug addicts. I really enjoy the voices that Tate gives each of the characters. There is no stagnation in this series. I look forward to see how the group faces new challenges.

No Strings Attached (The Pink Bean, #1) by Harper Bliss

GENRE: Lesbian Romance


This book was a quick read. The plot flowed really well. It was nice to see a main character my age although I can not relate to coming out that late in life. The internal conflict Mickey goes through really shows the complexity of coming out. The characters overall were very likeable and I have already gotten the next book in the series.

Staying Alive (The EMP #2) by Ryan Westfield

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

The characters are on the move in the second book of [The EMP]. Also we meet a new character, John, Max's estranged brother. The author gives each character their own voice by giving each chapter a different character. I love when authors do this because it give you as a reader a wider range of points of view and perspectives to create you own visuals of the story. On to book three.

The New Order (The Young World #2) by Chris Weitz

GENRE: YA, Post Apocalyptic

This book picks up right where book one left off. The writing is exceptional. I love how [Weitz] gives each of his characters a distinctive voice by alternating chapters. This allows the reader to get a feel for the character and different point of views. The end of this book he even hints at more to come with the voice of one of the characters. Ready for the next one.

Hood (American Rebirth #1) by Evan Pickering

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

A well envisioned post apocalyptic world. The goal is survival and the plot keeps you moving on a quick pace with lulls long enough for you to catch your breath. The characters are developed and really drive the story. I am looking forward to more books in this series.

The Blizzard of '88 by Mary Cable

GENRE: NonFiction, History, Disasters

This is a topic I love to read about, well this and any other disaster. This book was well researched but it seemed a bit repetitive. It just kept jumping all over the place. The facts are correct and the stories are good but there may have been a few too many included.

Must Love Chickens by Jea Hawkins

GENRE: Lesbian Romance


This was a cute story. It was nothing heavy but more like a feel good love story. It was well written and the characters were developed even the secondary characters. Sometimes you have to run away to find yourself and have a chicken like you. It is a nice, enjoyable, light read.

Into the Forest by Jean Hegland

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

I really wanted to like this book more. It started out strong but the characters seemed to be in denial and helpless. Then after one horrible scene it turned a little weird. I know this was made into a movie and the book is always better.  The premise was good and this could have been so much better if it tried to be less artsy.

These are some of [Sherryl D. Hancock's] most developed and complex characters yet. This book will take you on a wild ride. Another benefit is you can suggest this book to people who may not be so into the lesbian scene and introduce them to an amazing author.

More amazing characters created by [Sherryl D. Hancock]. She is a master at developing a realistic relationship through the words she writes on a page. [Everything to Everyone] is no exception. The idea of your first love coming back into you life is always a good one and the WeHo gang keeps growing.

Chaos Evolves ( After the EMP Book 6) by Harley Tate

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

In this sixth book in the series the characters and their relationships continue to evolve. Some for good others not so much. The quest for a safe place and survival comes full circle just as all seems lost. Colt and Dani run into another man just trying to survive and keep his family alive. He is familiar to Colt. The pilot from the plane. This is where books 1-3 and 4-6 merge. Looking forward tosee what happens next.

Chaos Gains (After the EMP Book 5) by Harley Tate

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic


The continuation of the After the EMP series does not disappoint. The fast paced journey that Tate created in the first four books as we follow Colt, Dani, and Melody as they just try and survive in this new world. The character of Colt deepens in complexity as he begins to open himself up to the others. It is a worthwhile read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I Like That About Her by Aleks Mitchell

GENRE: LGBTQ, Coming of Age


This book was very well written. It hits on the angst of fist love, especially if that is a LGBTQ love. I really do not think people understand how hard it is to accept that you may be gay when all your life you are told it is wrong. I think Mitchell really did a fantastic job of introducing and confronting those issues with believable characters. I read this book in one sitting.

Witness Protection: Moving Target by Jet MacLead

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

I really wanted to like this book. The plot had so much potential but it is in serious need of editing. There were too many spelling and grammatical errors to keep track of and the continuity and flow made the book almost unreadable. I think this would be a good book if a lot of editing is done.
