Renovations (By Design #6) by J.A. Armstrong

29388149

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Politics

Moving on to bigger things. Candace is now the govenor of New York. New crisis arise both in family and out. I absolutely love how Armstong weaves the relationships throughout this series. She shows life is not perfect but with love and compromise anything is possible.

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Politics

This book throws J.D. into the fire, or rather the toddlers. As usual there is snark, fortune cookies, and Bible Study. This is a contuination of the story of the Fletcher-Reid clan and shows the ups, downs, and overall craziness of a relationship.

Tomboy by Janelle Reston

38750133

GENRE: Lesbian Fiction, Coming of Age, Romance

This was a nice coming of age story set in post WWII America. It dealt with gender stereotypes but in a very positive manner. I would say I find it hard to believe that there was no homophobia at the time period(I know there was) but the author chose to focus on the girls. I also think pre 1960's being gay wasn't shamed or hated as much. It was really quick read with agood messege about being true to yourself.

Collapse (After the Blast, #1) by Kyle Danvers

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic, EMP

This was a well written book about survival after an EMP. I really liked the character of Ashley, she seemed to be a true survivor. I did find the description of her a bit odd since she had recently separated from the military. Overall the pace of the book was steady and it was an easy, enjoyable read.

More Than A Kiss by Saxon Bennett and Layce Gardner

21439829

GENRE: Lesbian Romantic Comedy

This book had me laughing out loud. Not something I do alot and I think it scared my wife a bit. It had a unique cast of characters and was definately a lighter read. They are the lesbian Carl Hiassen. No one can be serious all the time( said with R.B.F. in place) The action kept coming and the twists were hilarious. I think this would make an awesome stage play, just sayin'.

The Misadventures of Two Reluctant Zombie Hunters(Vol.1) by Rhavensfyre

26220545

GENRE: Post Apocolyptic, Lesbian

This book was full of sarcasm and snark. Therefore I loved it. The main characters did not have a hero complex at all like most zombie type books. The Rules made me laugh. KL was my favorite because I just want to be like her. I am glad I got this recommendation or I may never have found this book and author. I will be reading more, including Vol. 2.

The Light (Zombie Ocean Book #9) by Michael John Grist

39306767

GENRE: Post Apocalyptic

Michael John Grist has taken me on a fatastic ride with the Ocean. I have been hooked since book 1 [The Last]. Amo, Lara, Anna, and the rest have become like old friends that I get to visit with once in awhile. From the first book I stated this was a different take on the whole zombie genre theme and it has continues to evolve and take me on twist and turns, ups and downs, right along with the characters. Grist really delves into what it means to be human and that the line between good and evil often is a blurry one. I am really hoping this is not the end.

The One Who Eats Monsters(Wind and Shadow, #1) by Casey Matthews

35992313

GENRE: YA, Lesbian, Paranormal, Some Romance

Paranormal is usually not my favorite. I do enjoy it but I must be in the mood for it. This book was so well written that I flew through it. The character of Ryn was very well developed. The theme seemed to be good versus evil with some nasty paranormal politics going on. I put this in the same category as American Gods but much less crass and gritty but in a good way.

Close Quarters (Jayce & Emma #4) by Barbara Winkes

33828680

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Crime, Law Enforcement

Again this was short but action packed. Although I do think Emma may have the worst luck in the world. Her character gained more depth in this book and you got to see a slightly softer side of Jayce. Where is book #5?

New Rooms (Jayce & Emma #3) by Barbara Winkes

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Crime, Law Enforcement

Another short but well written book. This time with a little more suspense. I really enjoy the dynamics between the two main characters. I know short review but it was a short book.

Familiar Places (Jayce & Emma #2) by Barbara Winkes

25498398

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Crime, Law Enforcement

The second installment of Jayce & Emma, Familiar Places, picks uo where Halfway Home left off. The characters still continue to grow and their relationship evolve. Like the first book this one was short but pack full. It is the perfect type of book for those really ADD days. Onto book 3.

Halfway Home (Jayce & Emma #1) by Barbara Winkes

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

It was a very short story. I liked the premise of it but it seemed a bit rushed. With the strength of the character and a bit more development this could be a good full length book. I will be reading the continuation of this story line.

After Raya by Michelle Arnold

25899025

GENRE: Lesbian Fiction, Romance, Recovery

This book really hit home for me because it dealt with recovery from an abusive, codependent relationship. Arnold did an amazing job of capturing the aspects of denial and fear that come along with recovery. It is hard to feel like you are good enough for anyone or that you deserve better and this book did an amazing job at expressing this. At it's base it is a romance but a healing one that is multi dimensional. I think this goes up with one of the most poingant books I have read and I highly recommend it.

NEXT ( A Cam Thomas Story #2) by Claire Highton-Stevenson

36529221

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

So I did a mini binge. I read this book right after the first one and was not disappointed. The characters just develop even more. The plot continues to flow and evolve. The relationship between Cam and Michelle is the main focus. It almost is it's own character. This book though does have a real villian. Waiting on the third installment. On binge hold.

OUT (A Cam Thomas Story #1) by Claire Highton-Stevenson

35847442

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

This is another book recommendation I got from a book chat. I am loving those since it is helping find amazing books like this. Cam is a main character that you really want to see everything work out for because she is just authenic. Of course some things are not realistic but it is fiction and I guess some people get that lucky. The relationship, although it is the soul mate thing, develops nicely. They even have road bumps(or more like potholes into Narnia). This is where the secondary characters come in to help fix things. I like that the secondary characters are not fluff but played a role is directing the plot but aren't overbearing. I definately will read more in this series. It is binge worthy.

Rough Drafts(By Design #4) by J.A.Armstrong

26176211

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Politics

The characters face new and bigger challenges in this book of the series. The chemistry between all the characters continues to flow as well as grow. Between campaigns, past demons, and unexpected futures the family will stick by each other and make it through it all.

Alex Hope(Alex Hope #1) by A.J. Estelliam

35898928

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Crime, Mystery

This has been in my queue for awhile. Glad I finally got to it. The plot moved really well. The characters, although not the strongest I have read, were well developed and flowed along with the plot. The setting of snowy Scotland was almost like a charcter in itself. Especially with Alex's ability it was almost like another antagonist.

Lesson Plans(Lesson Plans #1) by J.A. Armstrong

33624105

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

In all honesty this is the first book by J.A. Armstrong I picked up. It drew me in as a teacher but when I realized it was a spin off of the By Design series I put it aside and started that one. I read this one at the time it seemed to fit into the other series. I love the characters and how their relationship develops. Michelle and Melanie's relationship evolving from just friends to more just flowed. As with all of Armstrong's characters they all have flaws but that makes them real.

Solid Foundation (By Design #3) by J.A. Armstrong

25673510

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Politics

I love the snarkiness and inside jokes the characters have in this series. 'Bible study' and 'Gollum' being really good ones. If you wonder what that is read the series. Not just the book but the whole series. Armstrong creates real and likable characters. She uses humor in the right wayto make thesebooks throughly enjoyable.
