GENRE: Lesbian, Coming Out

This is a coming out and figuring out who you are book. I kinda wish I had read the two previous books before this one(so not like me to do that) because the characters are amazing. You could tell that some of the characters had a back story that if you read the first two books you'd understand but like an idiot I veered from my norm and read book 3 first.

That rant over. The book was really good. I liked the geeky nature of Gemma and her own self doubt mirrored my own. I kinda hated how pushy Sarah was and how much she did not pay attention. My favorite character was Mikey and I hope to see more of her in new books.  Now I must got get books 1 and 2 and read them.

Ransom's Redemption by Rhavensfyre

29612214

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

This book had everything! Romance, action, even humor. The characters were deep as were the issues they dealt with. I love when authors choose not to have the "perfect" character but rather one that has flaws and struggles. This just makes it more realistic. Rhavensfyre does not seem to shy away from the tough issues which keeps me coming back for more.

Building Love by M.E. Tudor

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

This is a sweet story that also deals with some difficult issues. The main characters were developed and their stories plausible. The fact that both had to deal with bullying from the same family might seem unbelievable to some readers but if you grew up as the poor kid in a small town it is very realistic. I was a bit surprised by the ages of the main characters because just reading the description made it seem they were adults. That said I will read more by Tudor and this is a quick, enjoyable read.

I Like That About Her: Book 2 by Aleks Mitchell

38612240

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

When I read the description I was heartbroken. The love story between Chandler and Faith was perfect! But, I know life changes and so do we, so I wanted to see what happened. Mitchell again does a flawless job with well developed characters and creating emotions that, as a reader, I could feel. It is easy to get immersed in these books. Also, good to remember that everything changes.

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Age Gap

This is an incredibly sweet next door neighbor romance with an age gap. I loved the awkwardness of Brinley. I think she embodies all of us slightly nerdy, unsure of ourself people. Leah was not as deep but fit the role well. I also liked Kat, Brinley's sister, she was the snarky one. This story lends itself to be continued because all the characters can grow. I hope to see a sequel, perhaps a series.

Wild Magic (The Veil Chronicles, #1) by May Dawney

39667853

GENRE: Urban Fantasy, Lesbian Romance

I thought I had out grown fantasy but this book rekindled that part of my imagination. I would like to say this is almost a Harry Potter for grown ups but it is so much more than that. The visuals that Dawney creates with her descriptions are amazing. It was what an epic fantasy should be.

Double Exposure by Bridget Birdsall

GENRE: LGBTQ+ YA, Coming of Age

This is definately a book I would recommend to some of my students. It is a coming of age book but with the major complication of gender identity. Birdsall did a very good job of showing the struggles that can be faced when you do dot fit in the "norm". The compassion and acceptance shown in this book was magnificent.

Survivors by K'Anne Meinel

39702673

GENRE: Dystopian Survival, Lesbian

I have had this book on mt 'list' for awhile. It was worth the wait. It mixed two of my favorite genres of dystopian and lesbian fiction together. It was well researched and written. The characters were realistic and for the most part likable(there were a few you wanted to slap). The ending could have been better or another book could be written to continue the story. It just left me wanting more which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Campaign Trail (By Design #9) by J.A.Armstrong

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Family

After reading some heavy duty emotional books I had to return to a series that always makes me smile. The relationship between JD and Candace is what we all strive for in life. The fact that they deal with all the craziness, ups and downs with love and laughter makes this series so enjoyable. Also, there is always some 'bible study' thrown in.

The Treehouse by Randi Triant

38567996

GENRE: Contemporary Lesbian Fiction

Wow! This book took me on an emotional ride and wrung me out! Triant captures the emotions of struggling with loss and coming to terms with it amazingly. The treehouse it self, while real, was also a metaphor in my opinion. It is only what happens at the end that lets Camilla truely let go. Not a fuzzy beach read but a REALLY good book.

Hal (The Duellist #1) by Kate Cudahy

24970847

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Action/Adventure

I absolutely loved the plot and flow of this story. The character of Hal was well developed and pretty much what I wanted to be like in my younger days.(Yes, I dreamed of sword fights. I was a weird kid.) There was a certain amout of predictablility to some aspects of the story but it took nothing away. I will be reading the second book (Hannac).

Reclaiming Yancy by J.B. Marsden

37640981

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

This was a quick read since it was so well written. The complexity of Yancy helps make the story flow. The struggle that is the relationship between Gen and Yancy make it more realistic. Not every relationship is all roses. Most relationships take work and this is shown in this story.

Highland Dew by Barrett Magill

38110910

GENRE: Lesbian Romance

The setting of this book being in Scotland drew me in right away. Not only did Magill do a fabulous job with the scenery but she seemed to capture the soul of the Scottish people. The relationship between the characters of Bryce and Reggie is something of an enigma that will keep you guessing until the end. The relationship that develops between Bryce and Fiona ages just like a fine scotch. This book was truely a pleasure to read.

The Smell Of Rain by Cameron MacElvee

36374922

GENRE: Lesbian Romance, Global Issues

Cameron MacElvee hits all the feels with this poignant book. The emotions evoked through the two main characters are genuine. The issues that are addressed are also very important because they are what drive the two women and develop their characters. This is definately not a light beach read but a deep, well thought out novel that will hopefully leave you with lots to think about. Well worth the emotional rollercoaster.

Where Loyalties Lie (MidKnight Blue Series #3) by Sherryl D. Hancock

39084795

GENRE: Romance, General Fiction

I love the way Hancock writes and how well developed her characters are but this installment in the MidKnight Blue series seemed to lack the usual drive. All the amazing characters were there and I understand they are in flux. Just this book seemed more like an interlude than a truely developed story. Doesn't make it a bad book by any means just the plot was not as well driven as Hancock's other books although the chracters were still amazing.

The Deep End by Ellie Hart

39171624

GENRE: Mystery, Lesbian Fiction

This was a mystery book with many twist and turns. It left you questioning what you knew just as much as the main character Giselle. The relationship within the books shows how much love and support are important is getting through difficult times.

Survival Instincts by May Dawney

36238685

GENRE: Dystopian, Lesbian Romance

Dystopian and lesbian fiction together! I think I may swoon. May Dawney has created the book I always wanted to read. The characters are deep and the plot flows. There is nothing in this book that seems forced or contrived. The relationship develops in steady way. This book is definately on my favorites list!
